Meet Our Team
Our dedicated leadership team is committed to empowering minds and transforming communities through education, advocacy, and support.
DIRECTOR OF ACTIVITIES & OUTREACH
Mahiyah Muthu
I am a sophomore at CWRU on the pre-medical track with strong interests in biology, healthcare management, and clinical research. I currently serve as the Director of Activities & Outreach at Empower the Minds, where I help lead community programs that support children, families, and underserved communities.
I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where I built a strong academic foundation through Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and other advanced STEM coursework. These classes deepened my passion for life sciences and shaped my commitment to pursuing a career in medicine.
At CWRU, I continue to strengthen that commitment through biological and healthcare-focused research, including hands-on laboratory experience working with animal models (rats and mice). This work has helped me develop skills in ethical handling, observational analysis, and controlled experimental techniques that support ongoing biomedical and clinical research.
On campus, I am an active member of my sorority, where I participate in leadership, community service, and philanthropic initiatives that promote student engagement and well-being.
I also have extensive experience tutoring elementary, middle, and high school students in math, biology, and chemistry, helping students build confidence through personalized and interactive learning. Additionally, my family and I have organized multiple fund drives benefiting homeless shelters and underprivileged children, which has strengthened my passion for service and community support.
Outside of my academic and volunteer work, I practice Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance), play tennis, and hold a Grade 4 piano certification from Trinity College London.
